Blossom & Balance 4 Week Blog Series: A Spring Yoga Challenge

Each week of the series will center around a unique theme that ties together the core elements of growth, balance, and mindfulness—both on and off the mat. Through intentional weekly blog posts, we’ll explore how these themes show up in your yoga practice, your mindset, and your daily life.

Along the way, you’ll be guided through creative bonus challenges designed to spark connection, reflection, and fun, while the social media prompts give you a chance to share your journey, celebrate your progress, and cheer each other on as a community.

Week 1: Walking Meditation

If you’re anything like me, the idea of “balance” sounds great—until you’re trying to hold Tree Pose while also making a mental grocery list (wait I’m NOT supposed to be thinking about making a grocery list in tree pose!). But this challenge is about more than just standing on one foot, although, yes, there will be plenty of that, too. This is about slowing down and being mindful, tuning in, and finding presence—both on and off the mat.

Which brings us to this week’s bonus challenge: a 30-minute walking meditation. Now, before you panic, no, you don’t have to do it in slow motion like a monk on a retreat (unless you want to, in which case, I support this vibe). A walking meditation is just about paying attention—to your breath, your steps, the way the light hits the trees, or even the chaotic yet beautiful sounds of life happening around you.

How to Do It:

  1. Pick a place: Outside is ideal, but if the weather says otherwise, a treadmill works, too.
  2. Walk at a comfortable pace. No need to power walk like you’re late for a flight.
  3. Tune in: Feel your feet on the ground, notice your breath, and resist the urge to check your phone every five steps. Better yet, turn your phone off!
  4. Get curious: What do you see? Hear? Smell? (Hopefully, something pleasant.)
  5. Breathe. Enjoy.

If you give this a try, you may notice a subtle shift—even if just for a moment. And sometimes, that moment is simply becoming more aware of your body and what it needs. Completed your walking meditation? Let your Happy Hour Yoga teacher know and snag those Weekly Bonus Points!

Let’s Get Social:

Share a photo or a reflection from your walking meditation—your route, a quiet moment, something beautiful you noticed, or even just your feet in motion. Post it with a few words about how the experience felt and make sure to tag @HappyHourYoga. We love seeing where your practice takes you—especially when it’s off the mat. Make sure you show your Happy Hour Yoga teacher so you can get your Social Media Bonus Points!
